New to empowr?

Hello everyone,

As announced last week, the empowr engineers have begun the process of stabilizing your empowr balances so that your coins can retain their value while they remain in empowr (before you transfer them out).

As a reminder, this move is part of empowr’s MASS coin strategy.

Over the past 48 hours, the first major rollout of these changes has been put in place, and while there were a few issues that are now resolved, I wanted to take a moment to address any confusion that some of you may have regarding the changes made during the coin stabilization.

Below are the top questions we’ve received from the community thus far. After reading this, if any of your general questions regarding the coin stabilization process have not been answered, please ask them in the comments below and I’ll do my best to answer them as quickly as possible.

For personal issues, please use this form.

Questions regarding the coin stabilization:

What happened to my balance?

If you are viewing your balance in empowr coins, you’ll notice that the number of coins in your balance will now increase or decrease as the price of the coin fluctuates. If you are viewing your balance in your local currency (such as U.S. Dollars), however, your balance will remain approximately the same regardless of the price of the coin.  Please note that fluctuations with your local currency, against other major currencies, will affect your balance.

Due to the price stabilization process, the overall balances displayed at the top of your profile and on your balance page is unfortunately out of sync. Our engineers are currently working on resolving this.

Please note that your individual coin, pre-coin and external wallet balances (at the top of your balance details page – as show in the image below) is accurate, whereas the balance shown at the top of various pages or emails may still be inaccurate for some citizens.

empowr coin balance stabilization update

Why did my balance become so large for a few hours?

For any marketplace sales, refunds or bids returned that occurred from listings created prior to January 3rd at 8:30PM PST, you’ll notice that those earnings are now being added to your legacy coin balance.

The reason for doing that, is that those sales were made prior to the coin stabilization process and would not properly reflect in your balance if they were not added to your legacy coins first.

For the first 24 hours after the coin stabilization process completed, all elements of the process were not finalized yet, which led to some people seeing extremely large coin balances. This has now been resolved, and those earnings have been added as their proper amount in your legacy coin balance.

Why is my pre-coin balance so high?

As a ‘thank you’ to our longest standing empowr citizens, we’ve given you $1 USD in pre-coins, for each pre-coin you had before this process.

The result is that you will never again have issues upgrading to your highest power level desired regardless of the coin price, at least for many years to come.

It also means that when you hit your daily goal and spin the mission wheel, you should always have enough pre-coins to convert into coins, also for a long time to come.

What happened to my marketplace listings?

As discussed in the earlier post, all active fixed price and auction listings were paused on January 3rd.

To make your listings active again, simply visit your I’m Selling page, click on the listing you want to publish, and **be sure to update the price** for each item for in your local currency.

Why am I being charged for bidding/buying a low-priced product?

For the past day or so, the amount shown in marketplace feed stories was showing the cost of the item in empowr coins as opposed to your local currency. This is now fixed.

By clicking on the listing itself, you can also see the proper cost of the item in your local currency:

empowr coin balance stabilization update

My Ether wallet has been charged. Why?

Unless you are manually purchasing a mission role or transferring coins out of empowr, the only time you may be charged to your Ether wallet is for your monthly mission role renewal or a marketplace purchase that you initiated.

If you don’t wish to pay for your mission role each month, simply choose to be a Mission Volunteer and you will not be charged.

If you don’t wish to pay with your Ether wallet for your marketplace purchases, when you go shopping make sure you have enough coins available to shop with, or enough coins in your Coin Savings Vault for your purchases.

Depending on your marketplace payment settings, if you don’t have enough maturing coins or coins in your Coin Savings Vault, you may be charged to your Ether wallet for items you purchase.

What happened to the mission wheel?

For the past day or so, the amount of coins earned on the Mission Wheel was erroneously displayed as the same amount as the U.S. Dollars earned.

This was simply a display error and has now been fixed. The amount of coins you earned in your balance already reflect the U.S. Dollar amount you earned.

Why are my trading bonuses from buy orders not being accelerated to my Coin Savings Vault?

Our exchange, DDEX, recently updated their platform which has caused an issue in our ability to accurately track all of the trades occurring on the exchange. For that reason, some buy orders are currently being recorded as sell orders - which means the bonuses are not being accelerated to the Coin Savings Vault.

We're currently in the process of fixing this issue and expect to have it live early next week.

Why can’t I cash out everything in my Coin Savings Vault?

For the past several weeks, some empowr citizens were blocked from cashing out due to the number of pending transfers they had outstanding.

This issue has been corrected, and you should now be able to cash out up to 1B coins at once.

Update January 7th - After reviewing your comments below - we've added some additional answers below to further help with any confusion:

What was the purpose of the coin stabilization process?

As discussed in the original announcement, empowr’s hope is for everyone’s coins to be worth a lot more in the long-term; but the strategy of mass adoption can hurt the value of your coins in the short-term.

The purpose of the coin stabilization process is to ensure that regardless of the coin’s value on the exchange, the value of the coins you earn will always remain the same, from the time you earn them, until the time you cash them out of your empowr balance (meaning until you transfer them to your coin savings vault or external Ether wallet).

This will prove to be especially be important while the empowr community is in rapid expansion mode. As a reminder, we are expecting many millions of new citizens to join empowr in the coming months, and all of them will be earning coins by simply posting and sharing, as well as selling and coaching.

Example:

Sally earns $100 USD (example value = 100,000 coins) on Feb 10th.

One week later (Feb 17th), Sally wants to buy a mobile phone for $65 from the marketplace.

However, in our example, by Feb 17th the price of the coin has fallen by 40% so that her 100,000 coins are now only worth $60 USD – which means she can’t buy the mobile phone.

With the coin stabilization process that is now in place since January 3rd, 2019, the value of coins will be preserved until they are cashed out.

That means, in the same example above, Sally would now be able to buy the mobile phone she’s been wanting – even if the price of the coin drops by 45%, 65% or even 99%!

Now, everyone earning in empowr can be confident that their earnings will not lose their value from the moment they earn them, until the very moment that they are able to spend them or convert them to their local currency.

What did the coin stabilization process entail?

The coin stabilization process was completed on January 3rd at 8:30PM PST.

Here are the changes that were made:

1) As of January 3rd at 8:30PM PST, going forward each time you earn coins, the value of those coins (in local currency at the moment you earned them) will remain stable in your balance.

2) In regards to coins before January 3rd:  Based on the coin price (in local currency) at the time of the launch of the new code, the value of your coin balances (maturing/matured, legacy and founder) was locked in so that from that point forward they would retain the same value regardless of the movement of the empowr coin.

That means, that if you are viewing your balance in empowr coins, you’ll notice the number of coins that you have increase or decrease as the price changes. However, if you are viewing your balance in another currency (like U.S. Dollars) the amount will stay the same.

3) Given that this new functionality was launched on January 3rd, the cash advance and ‘available to shop in the marketplace’ limits were reset on January 3rd at 8:30PM PST.

Going forward from Jan 3, as you hit your Daily Goal and sell new items in the marketplace, those limits will increase as normally expected.

What earnings are affected by the coin stabilization process?

The amount of coins in your balance as of 8:30PM PST on January 3rd and any new coins added to your balance since then - there can be no retroactive for earnings received prior to that time, because the functionality did not yet exist. I understand that this is confusing to some citizens and I apologize for that; the new stabilization feature is simply not backwards compatible.

Is my balance correct?

As mentioned in the earlier question above, currently the overall balance is not in sync with what your actual balance is.

This is simply a display issue; something the empowr engineers are currently working on, and it will be fixed as quickly as possible which will also include the display of your pending marketplace sales and purchases.

Thanks for everyone’s patience as we continue to work through any remaining issues from this massive undertaking.

We hope that, going forward, the stabilization of the value of your coins will make any short-term inconveniences worth it for you.

If you experience any new issues, please report them using this form (not in the comments below).

Any questions? We’re here for you.

Your President,
Carlos

Through these updates the company did one thing very cleverly to frozen citizens earned Coins value. For example if today u earned 1000 Coins and its current value is 10$ so if from here the Coin value down or up, u will fixed with 10$ for the rest.

If you want to make our coins's value go up. Give the members power to buy and sell to the market more! So we can trade fairly with others. How can we trade if we have lots of pre-coins and we can not even buy anything in the market place???

Hi William - if you hit more Daily Goals and sold more, you would have more to spend in the marketplace. This is not a charity website - you need to work if you want to be rewarded.

Thanks Carlos for the useful update on coin stabilization and your taking all pains to respond individual's question/concern. Also it's a great idea to provide the google form for submitting individual's issue - which will, no doubt, make the reporting faster. However what is missing here is the tracking the progress of individual's issue. If it's a common issue, we come to know the progress (if it has been resolved or not) thru community announcement. But there is no way to track (either by SC or citizen) individual's issue. My observation - this is creating a frustration/misunderstanding between some citizens and SCs/the Team (empowr).
If I can catch up with my memory, not very long ago (probably during the FanBox time) , there was a ticket # system. The Team used to issue a Ticket number for any issue submitted by SC on behalf of the student (citizen) with all supporting stuffs. And once the issue was resolved, there was a notification from the Team closing the ticket. (I don't remember if the student was in that notification loop - if not, the notification somehow used to reach the student - it was a good system - I don't know why it was discontinued!). A similar tracking system could probably help to resolve this situation(frustration/misunderstanding).

Hello good night, I keep surprising every day that I enter my Empowr page, change in a matter of minutes, as soon as I have funds to buy, as I do not have, the money raised during my many years as a saleswoman I do not see it for any part, the value of my coins is infimo given the sales made as I said in so many years and without taking even a single $. Selling if I'm not mistaken is a risk, because maybe I'm wrong but I read that the sale was paid in advance to be able to continue investing in products for the market, but ... 1ºnos give coin that has to be transferred so it is We charge a commission, 2nd then go to the market and sell the coins to make them etherun for which another commission is charged, 3rd once they are made, you have to sell them to make them local currency, for which they charge another commission, I do not know if send the local currency to your bank charge or not, because I have only reached the first step, if the currency now is as low as it is, the little gain goes on commissions, apart from the commission for sale or purchase of 1 / 2 $. Carlos and JC sincerely I am very confused, I have disappeared everything I had for the market, my coins of founder who had old are not and when they were not worth anything, a question and I expect an honest answer, I have given away all the articles that I have been selling to buyers? because I do not see a single $ in these years, I have decapitalized, I have made efforts this last stage, sending products sold below the cost price, giving them that clear 0¡¡, for trusting that this will somehow be fixed , I made a last real effort but it is impossible to keep pace without recovering part at least, thousands of dollars are invested. I'm sorry to have to express this, but I've always been direct and sincere, I've always thought about continuing even in times of downturn, but I can not anymore, I do not have cash to continue selling and sending witho

Carlos Andrade

Hi Yolanda,
This coin stabilization update was made to help sellers - not hurt them.

Prior to this rollout, each time you sold something for say $10 USD, if the price of the empowr coin dropped by 50%, then the coins you earned would only be worth $5. This was a reality for sellers for the past several months, which is why the marketplace hasn't taken off.

Now, with the new changes in place, when you sell something for $10 USD, you will forever have $10 USD. So it's never been a better time to sell in the marketplace.

Hi again
I notice I sold 5 items today, but it seems none of the purchases could be completed,it all is pending now,I tested it and if I do have enough coins to buy, it gives you an error saying you don't have enough coin to complete the purchase,Then it goes to pending(similar like in the past when you don't meet the buyer's requirements) Can you please check it?
Thanks in advance

Carlos Andrade

Hi Wilhelm,
Your bids are returned to your empowr coin balance, just like they always have been.
The exception to that rule is for any listings that were created prior to January 3rd, where those bids will be added to your legacy coin balance and can be released to your coin balance from there. Since very few listings are from older than January 3rd, this should not be happening much or at all in the very short term.

Hi Carlos
Will it be possible for Empowr to add to the transfer out pop up, the maximum amount which we are allowed to transfer out at once, or to limit the scroll bar so when you reach the maximum amount it stops. Since it changes regularly, it will probably prevent a lot of unnecessary pending coin transfer outs and questions to Thecoin@empowr or to the SC's,

Hi Sandra,
We will reach back out to you regarding your personal case, but If you want your available to shop and cash advance balances to increase, focus on getting the 13 progress bars in the transfer out section of your balance completely full - specifically make sure you are selling and hitting daily goals. We need clarification

Taken from the blog

Your personal empowr balance is calculated by adding up all your prior transactions...

... in some cases hundreds of thousands -- or even millions -- of transactions over the period that each of you has been an empowr citizen.

The empowr system will be auto-adjusting the quantity of coins you earned from each transaction in your history at empowr.

Please explain how this does not refer to prior sales - this upgrade has cost many of us thousands of dollars, we need to hear why it was done this way when the blog clearly states that we would be compensated for past sales

Carlos Andrade

Ken - I've addressed your questions with additional answers at the bottom of the post above.

Ken Spence

I am confused - I have many of my Empowr friends and ex students contacting me in distress, asking where all their coins have gone and I have no answers. Please can we get a detailed explanation of how this upgrade should have worked regarding past sales and where the coins should have ended up. I can't believe that Empowr wanted to cause this amount of distress and take away all of the earnings from sales. Personally I have only $400 left in my balance from over 500 individual sales totalling thousands of dollars. I understand that this is an alpha program and I will accept the losses as part of the growing pains but I feel for all the others especially the ex students who I had been encouraging and supporting. The original blog stated that historical sales would be recalculated. I see no evidence of this. I am trying to stay positive but please give an explanation that restores some faith

Where are the trading bonuses being paid to? I have earned over $40 NZD today in bonuses yet my balance has only changed by $3 or $4.

Carlos Andrade

Ken - again, I can’t comment on your personal case, but bonuses are paid to your coin balance first. Then, if you received that bonus because you bought coins, you’ll have those coins deducted from your balance and accelerated to your coin savings vault

Ken Spence

I have taken screenshots and reported to my SC - unfortunately she seems to be too busy to answer promptly at the moment - I have had no replies for 2 days. I will wait until she responds

Ken Spence

What should have happened is that all historical sales should have been recalculated and stored as legacy coins to be released as the coin price increased. That way, we would get our original investment back over a period of time instead of having the whole lot devalued and frozen at this ridiculously low amount

Carlos Andrade

Ken - this is an alpha product. We're learning and improving as we're going. You of all people should understand that.

Ken Spence

I understand that this is an alpha project but it still doesn't stop me from the feeling of being mugged. This upgrade has lost me 3 years of work and thousands of dollars. No doubt, I will continue once I have got over the disappointment but Empowr has to consider those of us that have been here for years. I would be better off having done nothing for the last 3 months. I have paid founder fees in order to access higher earnings but those earnings have now been reduced to a token value - you must be able to see why I am so upset about it

Claire Pagano

Is this not what IS happening Ken? That's what the announcement said was happening. Now I'm confused. Did they go back on their promise? Carlos said they are recalculating all our historical sales from when they were sold and giving us extra coins to compensate for the price drop. Is that NOT what's happening? That's what we were told.

Ken Spence

Carlos. I was under the impression that historical sales were to be recalculated as this excert from JC's blog states

This has not happened

and I don't know where to find any legacy or founder coins

Carlos Andrade

Hi Ken,
It was never announced that we would retroactively do anything - this process is for all earnings moving forward.

Ken Spence

I am sorry Carlos but you must be reading this differently to me and I still have no answer as to where my founder coins have gone - this update seems to have taken all of my three years of work and condensed them into $400 which doesn't even cover the cost of a fraction of the items I have sent. Now it is frozen and will never increase - why would anyone be happy with this situation?

Carlos Andrade

Hi Ken,
I'm sorry to hear of your frustration, but I don't have the ability to look into your personal situation and provide you an answer. Please fill out the form as we've asked you to in the post.

Ken Spence

Sorry, I may be missing something here but I was under the impression that the coin price was to be recalculated. I now have billions of pre-cons which has been explained in this blog but my coin balance is the same as before and I do not see any founder or legacy coins. Does this count as a personal issue that needs to be reported or am I reading this incorrectly?

Your coin balance will stay the same as before - the difference is that the value of your coins will not go down based on the outside price.

For example, if you had 1,000 coins before, which was worth $1, then after the conversion you still would have had 1,000 coins. From there, if the price of the coin goes up, you'll see less coins in your balance, but the value will still be $1. If the price goes down, you'll see more coins in your balance, and the value will still be $1.

So after 3 years and thousands of dollars of selling, I have $400 which will never increase? You have frozen my earnings at the lowest possible point - Why is this not making me feel good?
